We are pleased to announce Grandmaster Vincent Marchetti’s return to NJ on June 28-30. He is returning to host a Black Belt Test at the KMA Dojo. This event is expected to be unlike any event previously held at Kearny Martial Arts. As many in the martial arts community know, Kearny Martial Arts’ Black Belt Tests are special events. Students are tested on their proficiency in all three of the arts (Karate, Judo, JuJitsu) that make up Michi Budo Ryu, the style founded by Grandmaster Marchetti. They are also tested on their knowledge of the history of the Japanese martial arts. These tests are closed door events with typically 2-3 students testing for their Black Belt.
For the first time in the history of the school, Grandmaster Marchetti will preside over the largest Black Belt Test ever conducted at the KMA Dojo. We expect no less than 6 students to be testing for their belt. Grandmaster Marchetti will conduct the test on June 29th, assisted by his Chief Instructor, Sensei Joe Pung. Grandmaster Marchetti has invited special guests of honor to attend this event, including Chuck Wepner, “The Real Rocky”, who is a Black Belt at Kearny Martial Arts. Grandmaster Gary Alexander from the Isshinryu lineage is also expected to attend the event. Chuck Wepner and Grandmaster Alexander are regular guests at our Black Belt Tests because they love to see students testing their skills in combat and battling the “Traditional Way” for their belts.
While the actual Black Belt Test on Saturday June 29 will be closed to the public, students and other visitors will have an opportunity to meet Grandmaster Marchetti on Friday June 28th at the Kearny Martial Arts Dojo (67 Kearny Avenue, Kearny, NJ).
As we get closer to the event, we will be releasing more information to keep everyone updated.
